Spanish study reveals burden of toxin-related outbreaks

Staphylococcus aureus caused the most outbreaks while Clostridium perfringens was behind the largest incidents, according to a study in Spain.

Researchers assessed bacterial toxin-related outbreaks reported to the Spanish National Surveillance Network (RENAVE) between 2015 and 2023. The pathogens included Bacillus cereus, Clostridium perfringens, and Staphylococcus aureus.
