A court verdict has doubled the amount of compensation a beer producer must pay to a consumer who suffered poisoning from contaminated beer in 2020.
The Court of Justice of Minas Gerais (TJMG) increased the level of damages to be paid by Cervejaria Três Lobos, the manufacturer of the Backer brand, from Brazilian Real $50,000 (U.S. $9,200) to R $100,000 ($18,400). The affected person will also receive R $382 ($70) to cover medical expenses.
