FDA finds cockroaches on cheese equipment, flies on ready-to-eat products at Florida plant

As part of its enforcement activities, the Food and Drug Administration sends warning letters to entities under its jurisdiction. Some letters are not posted for public view until weeks or months after they are sent. Business owners have 15 days to respond to FDA warning letters. Warning letters often are not issued until companies have been given months or years to correct problems. Portions of the letters are often redacted from public view.

The Food and Drug Administration has issued warning letters to a Florida cheese manufacturer and a Minnesota seafood importer after inspectors found food safety violations, including recurring sanitation problems at the cheese facility and repeated failures to verify that imported seafood was processed in compliance with U.S. requirements.
