Undeclared almond triggers recall of Tikka Masala in Canada

Loblaw Companies Limited is recalling PC Blue Menu brand Chicken Tikka Masala because of undeclared almond, a potential hazard for those with tree nut allergies.

Tree nut allergies can range from mild reactions like hives or itching to severe, life-threatening anaphylaxis, involving respiratory distress or shock. While research into allergy prevention advances, no cure exists—making label accuracy critical to avoid serious health risks.

According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the affected product was distributed nationally across Canada at retail outlets. As of this posting, no allergic reactions have been linked to its consumption.

Recalled product:

PC Blue Menu — Chicken Tikka Masala

Size: 350 g

UPC: 0 60383 18241 0

Code: 2025 NO 12

The CFIA warns consumers with almond allergies or sensitivities not to consume the recalled Chicken Tikka Masala, as it could cause dangerous reactions. Retailers and individuals should not use, sell, serve, or distribute the product. It should be discarded or returned to the purchase location.
