Donation of $100,000 to New York Common Pantry and meal kit packing event in Times Square kick off foundation’s annual giving commitment alongside Lineage’s initial public offering
Novi, Mich. – July 25, 2024 – Lineage Foundation for Good (the “Foundation”), the independent philanthropic arm of Lineage, Inc., the world’s largest global temperature-controlled warehousing REIT, today announced a pledge of $8.8 million in food donations and cash grants to community partners to address hunger and food insecurity. To kick off this commitment, alongside Lineage’s initial public offering, Lineage Foundation for Good is donating $100,000 to the New York Common Pantry and hosting a meal kit packing event in Times Square to provide meals for families in need throughout New York. These actions further the Foundation’s long-standing mission to fight food insecurity, underscored by Lineage’s commitment to help feed the world.
One in nine people in New York face hunger, and 1.2 million New Yorkers across the five boroughs are food insecure, according to the USDA and the New York City Mayor’s Office of Food Policy. Globally, up to 309 million people are facing acute levels of food insecurity in 2024 and do not know where their next meal is coming from, says the World Food Programme.
“The Lineage Foundation for Good is excited for the opportunity to help tackle food insecurity in New York City, consistent with our efforts in communities around the world,” said Hannah Hoskins, Executive Director of the Lineage Foundation for Good. “Today is historic for Lineage and it’s fitting that the company would use such an important milestone to also give back. The Foundation is proud to partner with Lineage today and every day to help bridge the hunger gap in the US and beyond.”
Since 2020, Lineage has donated the equivalent of over 176 million meals, including through the company’s “Share a Meal” campaign and in partnership with customers donating surplus product, as well as team members donating food to local food banks and grants issued to help build capacity at food banks around the globe.
“Every day, Lineage team members play an essential role in helping safeguard our customers’ products on their journey from farm to forks in communities around the globe. In honor of our IPO, I can’t think of a better way to celebrate this achievement than by spending some time giving back to the people of New York,” said Greg Lehmkuhl, President and CEO of Lineage. “Food is essential for everyone, everywhere. As we move forward as a public company, Lineage will continue to show up in the fight to end food insecurity as we strive to transform the food supply chain to eliminate waste and help feed the world.”
