Bokksu’s Tasty Snacks Are Up to 30 Percent Off for Lunar New Year

Francky Knapp

Party bundles, green tea jellies, and yuzu treats abound in the Asian snack site’s sale section

Lunar New Year is already upon us, which means my inbox is bursting with all kinds of limited-edition tableware drops, collaborations, and deals that pay homage to the Year of the Snake — but it’s Bokksu, the online snack box service, that turned my head the most with its 30 percent off sale. The digital Japanese marketplace is celebrating with deals on glassware, mikan jelly, party snack bundles, and more to usher in the start of the lunisolar calendar.

Lunar New Year officially kicks off next Wednesday, January 29, and while the holiday is celebrated perhaps most famously in China, it is also observed in South Korea, Vietnam, Singapore, and a plethora of other Asian countries. As Eater writer Nadia Chaudhury explains, each country has its own culinary traditions as well, “Dumplings bring wealth,” she explains, “Noodles represent longevity and happiness. Fish is eaten to increase prosperity.”

Bokksu’s luxury Lunar New Year-themed box is included in the sale, packed with 17 treats and collectibles including handmade ceramics, artisanal chocolates, a tea box, and more goodies. It’s also beautifully packaged in an intricate, faux-lantern box:

The Lunar New Year box is quite the splurge, but there’s also a whole smorgasbord of deals on the site for smaller budgets, with standouts including the Countdown Celebration Party Bundle (think, Umajimura yuzu honey soda, different types of senbei and okaki, yuzu mochi, Japanese Kit Kats), a Mount Fuji-shaped green tea jelly, Hello Kitty biscuits, and a bite-sized daifuku mochi box.

Head over to Bokksu to peruse all the delicious offerings, and happy Lunar New Year!
