The top 5 WTTs of 2024

It has been amazing for the show and I’d personally like to thank you all for listening, watching, liking, sharing and being a guest on the broadcast. Here are the five episodes of the show that were most watched by our viewers.

1. EP684: Are truckers really boycotting New York?Although it may seem like eons ago, last February after a fraud verdict was levied against Donald Trump in New York City, a rumor started to spread that truckers were boycotting the Big Apple.

The rumor was started by a social media influencer/trucker named Chicago Ray who didn’t even deliver to NYC in the first place. We broke down the story, why it was bogus and how it was being manipulated by political media. Watch it here.

2. EP715: The Great American Zyn shortage Zyn blew up in 2024 as memes and usage took the freight brokerage industry by storm. With Zyn sales up 80% year over year, the lip nicotine company ran into supply chain snags as demand overtook production. We took a look at the growth, phenomenon and challenges in the cpg category. Watch it here.

3. EP666: Truck the vote: Getting drivers ready for election season Political influencer Scott Pressler spent nearly the entire year in Pennsylvania trying to get the Amish, farmers and truckers to register to vote. On our very first show of the year, he came on to talk about how drivers can be registered to vote, how important they are to tipping the election as a voting bloc and why 2024 was the year to Truck The Vote! Watch here.

4. EP780 Will President Trump make freight great again? If our first show of the year was the shot, this one was the chaser. Just one day after Trump won the election, FreightWaves founder and CEO Craig Fuller came on the show to talk about trade under Trump and what it means for trucking. Watch it here.

5. EP669 NASA unveils super quiet supersonic X59 jet; global trade at warA pair of amazing NASA pilots, David Nils Larson and James Less, landed on the show to talk about the space agency’s supersonic X59 jet.

Also, global trade is at war as U.S. military forces and the United Kingdom, with support from Australia, Bahrain, Canada and the Netherlands, launch strikes against Houthi targets. Sal Mercogliano talks about the impacts this will have on global trade as the conflict escalates. Watch it here.

Home for the holidays

As glamorous as making freight memes may sound, they may not attract the ladies. Anonymous internet meme lord The Freight Bandit recently showed how the struggle is real this holiday season.

Our last show of the year is this Friday

A Very WHAT THE TRUCK?!? Christmas – We’re closing out 2024 with the most festive show in freight. My good buddy Matt McLelland charges up his Cybertruck and heads on down to the studio to co-host.

There we’ll be joined by Project K-9 Hero Jason Johnson and some amazing service dogs; Queued’s Tom Curee shows off his annual freight Christmas song; and Hell Bent Xpress owner Jamie Hagen talks about truckin’ through the holidays.

Plus, all the latest headlines, trends and viral weirdness since our last show.

A little local love

Haulin’ For The Holidays – Shoutout to Jessie Merritt at Reliance Partners and to all of the partners she rounded up in Chattanooga for this year’s Haulin’ for the Holidays toy drive.

Merritt says, “Companies showing up with their hard won dollars in a down freight market, team members showing up in their trucks to load and unload tons of boxes, teachers painstakingly crafting wish lists for every child in their class.”

God bless and Merry Christmas to all involved.
