On day five of Eater Advent Calendar, unwrap a trompe l’oeil of the hottest trend of the moment
The tinned fish craze does not seem to be slowing down and, to be honest, I don’t want it to. I love finding new tinned salmon and smoked mussels to try, but one of my favorite recent tinned fish finds isn’t actually edible (despite smelling divine). It’s this candle, which is packaged in cans and wrapped in paper to genuinely look like tinned seafood, before you peel back the top to reveal the waxy shapes of sardines and octopus. It’s almost too cute to light, but just opening the candle releases a cloud of aroma. The original ocean breeze scent is my favorite, but there’s also a tomato leaf scented candle and vanilla and egg nog that would be perfect for the holidays.
